The Halo novels are a series of science fiction novels based on the Halo series of video games. The novels have been written by a number of authors, and together they chronicle events between Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 5: Guardians.
As of October 2017, there are nineteen novels in the Halo series. The first novel, Halo: The Fall of Reach, was written by Eric Nylund and published in 2001. Nylund would go on to write two more Halo novels, Halo: First Strike and Halo: Ghosts of Onyx.
Other authors who have written Halo novels include Anton Strout, Troy Denning, Greg Bear, Tobias S. Buckell, Karen Traviss, Matt Forbeck, John Shirley, Andy Mangels, James Swallow, Joseph Staten, and Frank O’Connor.

The Halo graphic novels are a series of military science fiction comics published by Marvel Comics based on the Halo transmedia franchise. There have been nineteen released to date, with three more forthcoming.
The Halo short stories
The Halo short stories are a series of seventeen science fiction short stories that expand upon the Halo fictional universe. The stories were written by Bungie employees Brian Reed and Frank O’Connor, with one story each from Joseph Staten, William Dietz, Tobias Buckell, and Tessa Kum. Three of the stories were later collected and published in Halo: Evolutions – Volume 1.

As of July 2015, there are a total of sixty-nine Halo audio dramas that have been released by Bungie.
The Halo encyclopedias
The Halo encyclopedias are a series of reference books about Bungie’s science fiction video game franchise Halo, published by Dorling Kindersley. The first three volumes were released in October 2009, November 2009, and April 2010 respectively. A fourth volume written by Toby Lenk was released in October 2011. A fifth and sixth volume written by Brian Jarrard and Luke Smith were released in May 2012 and November 2012 respectively.
The Halo Encyclopedia is a 304-page hardcover book that was released on October 20, 2009, in the United States. The book is divided into six sections: “The Universe”, “The Characters”, “The Weapons & Vehicles”, “The Technology”, “The Covenant”, and “The Flood”. Each section contains information on the respective topic, as well as images and illustrations.
The Halo Encyclopedia: The Fall of Reach is a 192-page hardcover book that was released on November 3, 2009, in the United States. The book chronicles the events of the Halo: Combat Evolved prequel novel, Halo: The Fall of Reach.

The Halo tie-in books are a series of novels and short story collections set in the Halo universe. The novels have been written by Eric Nylund, William C. Dietz, Troy Denning, John Shirley, Greg Bear, Jeff Grubb, Karen Traviss, and Joseph Staten. The short stories have been written by a variety of authors, including Tobias Buckell, Nylund, Bear, Traviss, and Staten.
The Halo Young Adult novels
The Halo young adult novels are a set of science fiction books written by Kevin Grace and Anne Toole, and published by Tor Books. The novels follow the stories of John-117 and the Master Chief after the events of Halo 3. There are five novels in total, with the first novel, Halo: The Fall of Reach, being released on October 27, 2009. The second novel, Halo: The Flood, was released on April 27, 2010. The third novel, Halo: First Strike, was released on December 7, 2010. The fourth novel, Halo: Ghosts of Onyx, was released on October 2, 2012. The fifth and final novel in the series is Halo: Silentium, which was released on March 19, 2013.
